Russian acrobat Edik Petrov, who fled the USSR to Germany, ends up hijacking a T-62 tank - which was being sent to Russia along with the Western group of troops - due to a series of circumstances. And along with the tank, Edik "hijacks" its driver - senior sergeant, Kazakh Nartai Sapargaliyev.
Nartai has an important strategic mission, and he reports his misfortune to the command first. While the command seeks a way out of the precarious situation, Nartai cannot sit idle. He becomes famous among local farmers for his ability to fix any equipment. He plows a field with the tank's help. He helps his hapless "kidnapper," Edik, escape from the bandits chasing him. He rescues a Jewish girl, Katya Gurevich, who is stranded in Munich without a home or money. And in the finale, he confronts a neo-fascist group - and emerges victorious!
